A three-team alliance of the Edina Robotics Team plus two teams from Illinois emerged as champions at the Wisconsin Regional 2006 FIRST Robotics Competition held March 23rd through 25th in Milwaukee. The team’s 5’-tall robot could hold and release balls toward a goal on command and was exceptionally good at blocking opposing robots from scoring. This was the inaugural year for the Wisconsin Regional Competition, and the first year Edina High School has had a Robotics Team. Nevertheless, our rookie team was victorious among the 34 teams at the competition, and now advances to the National Competition April 27th through 29th in Atlanta, Georgia where approximately 300 teams are expected to compete.
