Team 1816 The Green Machine is proud to be a member of FIRST’s President’s Circle for the second year in a row! To be a part of the President’s Circle for the 2008-2009 season, teams were required to use their communication skills to produce a video that could be used to help recruit new teams. Even more exciting, out of the 53 video submissions, The Green Machine was selected as a finalist, one of the top three entries! The official announcement was made during the 2009 Kickoff, broadcast to FIRST teams worldwide via NASA.
The President’s Circle is a special program within the FIRST organization that seeks “to unleash the power, energy, and creativity of FIRST teams to recruit new teams.” Initially unveiled at the 2006-2007 Championships, The Green Machine was one of the first teams to become involved, producing and posting the first video that inaugural year. As a finalist this year, the Green Machine continues to be at the forefront of the program.
Now in its second year, the President’s Circle is also expanding in the level of participation it requires of teams. This year participating teams are asked to name a team representative, who will work with other team representatives and FIRST leadership to tackle problems and organize recruiting efforts. For this year, Team 1816 is proud to have junior Andrew P. in this prestigious role!
The Green Machine would also like to congratulate Team 195-Cyber Knights, Southington, CT., on their winning video, and the other finalist, Team 2587-DiscoBots, Houston, TX.
