Once again Team 1816 is pleased to be one of the 59 FIRST Robotics teams picked to beta test the new robot software, which will be released to all FRC teams in January 2011. The Green Machine, which will test C/C++ software and libraries, is not the only Minnesota team to conduct beta testing this year. One other local team, Team 2052-EP Robotics, is beta testing C/C++ software. Other teams beta testing different software include Team 2169-KING TeC, Savage MN; Team 2175-The Fighting Calculators, Woodbury, will test LabVIEW, along with Team 2472-The Centurions, Circle Pines. Team 2846-FireBears, Roseville MN, will test Java. All FRC teams taking part in the beta test will report their findings on a regular basis on designated FIRST Forums. The Minnesota teams also will present their findings during a mini-regional event in November, as well as at Minnesota Splash in early December.
This is the third year in a row that Team 1816 has been selected to conduct beta testing. In fall 2008,, the team beta tested the Compact RIO (cRIO) control system, and in fall 2009 the team tested new C++ library functions. For more information about this year’s beta test
