Right at the halfway point of the six-week robot build, The Green Machine took a Saturday afternoon to greet the community during the annual SPARK (Sponsor and Public Appreciation Recognition and Kudos) Day open house.  More than 100 visitors came to see what the team has been working on every day and night after-school and most Saturdays as well. Team members guided visitors, including friends, family, teachers and sponsors. First stop was Valley View Middle School, where our computers for CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and Programming share space with a Project Lead the Way Classroom. We also hosted the Valley View FIRST Tech Challenge teams and their robots, as they demonstrated how their robots would play this year’s game, “Get Over It.”  Visitors then were guided through the tunnel to the Edina High School set construction workshop, where builders were working on this year’s robot, Zeebo. The star of the day was our minibot, Zaboomafoo, which is now able to whiz up its ten-foot pole in under five-seconds. There are only three weeks left to complete both robots to play the 2011 FRC game, LOGO MOTION.  On February 22, we must ship our robots to the Lake Superior Regional, Duluth, where we will compete March 10 – 12, 2011.
