Next stop on FIRST Team 1816’s tour, the Minnesota North Star Regional! The Green Machine will be attending the regional along with 62 other teams on Thursday March 29th through Saturday March 31st. This event will be taking place at the Mariucci Arena, University of Minnesota. Normally, this is hockey central but we’re taking it over for the world’s best-ever multi-tiered basketball game, REBOUND RUMBLE! The entire event is open to the public, so all you robot enthusiasts out there should stop by! There will be teams from many different states – including Minnesota (of course), Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri.
North Star will be home to the most rookie teams, 13 new FIRST Teams! And if that’s not enough robot action, there’s also another full regional going on at the same time right across the street! The 10,000 Lakes Regional takes over “The Barn” (Williams Arena), where 64 teams will be competing in the same (but really completely separate) competition. If you really can’t come, there will be a webcast. FRC Team 2175-The Fighting Calculators, will stream the competition throughout the weekend.
Team 1816 can’t wait to see what will happen next! We have been thinking and planning changes that can be made on our 2012 robot, Zephyr, to make her both a faster and a more accurate shooter. Truly impressive already were the robots and strategies on display at the Lake Superior Regional a couple of weeks ago, and we’re hoping to see even more creativity at North Star. Good luck to all of the FRC Teams competing!
