In a season when everything that we knew as “regular competition” was performed remotely, FRC Team 1816 is proud to announce that we are officially the skills competition winner in the INFINITE RECHARGE At Home – Gallium Division.

This year, teams were tasked with figuring out various ball-shooting and obstacle courses. We modified our 2020 Robot (nicknamed Zodiac) to complete 4 of the 5 challenges. All 4 challenges were accomplished in autonomous mode (i.e., no human interaction with the robot). The scores for each of the skills challenges can be seen here. And, please click here to see our playlist of the different skills challenges.

At the same time, teams had to describe their robot’s technical qualities in online judged interviews. We do not yet know the results of the competition for the judged awards for technical qualities. Those results will be revealed on Thursday May 13 during the Upper Midwest FIRST Awards Showcase.

Our scores in the At Home Challenges placed us high enough in the rankings to earn an invitation to compete in the 2021 MSHSL-FIRST Robotics State Championship. This event will also be held remotely, with teams submitting videos and scores. All of the information related to the State Championship can be found here.
