Game: Rapid React
About the Robot
- Turret: A stereo camera identifies the target and determines distance. An industrial-grade “Lazy Susan” permits smooth rotation and stability as it automatically aims and makes precision shots on the goal.
- Cargo Ball Shooter: A flywheel based shooting mechanism that uses multiple distances with closed loop velocity control. Two Falcon brushless motors shoot the cargo balls. Split Hood and motor sections allow for precision alignment.
- Ferris Wheel Climbing System: Utilizing a custom gearbox (overall ratio of 164:1), powered by two NEO motors, permits the robot to climb to the topmost (traverse) rung of the hanging structure in 15 seconds.
- Intake/Cargo Ball Pickup: Over the bumper style, 4-polycarbonate tubes wrapped in rubber surgical tubing provide good grip and act as a barrier for the Spindexer when folded up. Powered by a NEO 550 brushless motor and actuated by a single 6″ stroke piston.
- Swerve Drivetrain: One wheel in each corner of the frame is able to move independently in any direction, at any speed, and at any orientation of the chassis. Each module contains two Falcon 500 motors, one for turning the wheel, and one for driving.
