I joined FRC 1816, “The Green Machine” this past January, inspired by my experiences on my FIRST Tech Challenge team but even more so by a Fall event called “Girls in the Workshop.” I became a part of the business team, writing an article in my first week on the FRC team. It has been a blast, from the time I spent in the workshop to the in-person competitions I was able to participate in this season. I couldn’t be happier that I decided to join, even though it is a bigger commitment compared to FTC. One thing I do regret is not attending as many workshop sessions as I would have liked, however I’m planning to take advantage of as many of the workshop build sessions and outreach events as possible this summer. Another thing I look forward to this summer and next fall is getting to know the new members of “The Green Machine.” I hope to see some familiar faces from the Girls in the Workshop events, and get them involved as quickly as I was earlier this year.
