We didn’t ‘duck’ out of this FTC season!
On September 18th, 2021, Edina’s FIRST Tech Challenge teams got together to watch the 2021 game reveal, Freight Frenzy. We can’t wait to see the rubber ducks as field elements at in-person competitions this year! Green Machine members were assigned FTC teams to mentor during kickoff and throughout the season. I am a lucky duck to be working with 11566 Tough Cookies, an all girls team of rookies, of which I am an alum. As they went about brainstorming, their team dynamic reminded me a lot of when I was on the team, eager to learn but no idea where to start. Sophia, an 8th grader at Valley View expressed, “we share[d] ideas rather than having one leader run the meeting,” Transitioning from FIRST LEGO League to FTC is a steep learning curve, although Sophia describes how many team members’ past experience with FLL will help in the design process.
In no time, I’m sure they will have all their ducks in a row.
