As our extensive fall and winter outreach and mentoring of teams in the FIRST LEGO League Junior, FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge programs winds down, Team 1816 members have been spending increasing amounts of time in the workshop. Not only is this due to (the somewhat) cooling temperatures outside, but something else prominent and exciting is lurking just around the corner: Kickoff! On January 9th, FIRSTRobotics Competition teams worldwide will tune into an official FIRST livestream for the 2016 game reveal. We know the name of the game – STRONGHOLD – but other than a few tantalizing hints, we anticipate a game like we’ve never seen before. Immediately following the game reveal, teams will have just six weeks to CAD, program, and build a robot. Team 1816 will attend the Kickoff event at the University of Minnesota before spending the rest of that weekend engaged in brainstorming. We can’t wait to find out what this year’s challenge will consist of!
