Team members cross-over into other subteams when working on our robots and when handling competition duties. All team members are involved with community outreach, sponsorship relationships, and fundraising.[/vc_column_text][mk_divider style=”shadow_line”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_cta h2=”Business & Outreach”]Every FIRST team is charged with the mission of promoting the benefits of science, technology, engineering, and math within their communities. This subteam develops, organizes and coordinates 1816’s events, seminars, and public appearances. All members of Team 1816 participate and are ultimately responsible for our outreach events and activities. Community outreach includes meeting with students at other schools, mentoring other FIRST teams (Jr. FLL through FRC), and lobbying our local, state and federal officials to fund and expand STEM opportunities for all students. Media is included in this subteam, overseeing the website, videos, photos and social media. Our student treasurer, who helps develop and manage the Team’s budget, is a member of this subteam. All communications, presentations and materials, including formal thank you letters, sponsor updates, handouts, pit signage, robot signage, T-shirts, giveaways, and costumes for our team mascot, are coordinated by this subteam.[/vc_cta][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”384″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_cta h2=”Robot Build”]This subteam is responsible for the skeletal structure of the robot and the parts of the robot that allow it to move. They help design, prototype robot mechanisms, construct the robot’s drive-train system, and build the driver station. Members also create and build parts of the robot that manipulate objects in the field of play. An example of this would be an arm used to pick up and stack items. At competitions, this subteam is responsible for all repairs of the robot between matches. The Build subteam also collaborates with other FRC teams to develop new robot designs.[/vc_cta][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”385″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”CAD (Computer-Aided Design)”]The CAD (Computer-aided Design) subteam creates and manages a library of parts used to design plans for our robots. CAD uses Solidworks® software to create prototypes and designs for the robot. CAD produces designs for 3D parts printed by Stratasys. Members model the entire final robot in CAD and create CAD presentations about the robot.[/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Control Systems & Programming”]This subteam designs and integrates the robots’ electronics, wiring, circuitry, and sensor systems. The subteam must also understand the robot control system (roboRio) and incorporate the control system into the robot. CSP members develop, write, and edit the computer programs (C++, JAVA and LabVIEW) that allow the robot to function in both an autonomous mode (without operator control) as well as when human operators are in control (tele-op).[/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Facilities”]This subteam uses playing field blueprints from FIRST to build and set up a practice field to test and demonstrate our robot. Members also design, build, set-up and tear-down our team’s pit area at competitions.[/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_cta h2=”Game Strategy & Scouting”]This subteam organizes pre-competition scouting activities. Members are charged with becoming experts on the current game rules and updates. They help prepare a database of teams and capabilities prior to and during competitions, and act in an advisory capacity to the drive team during competitions.[/vc_cta][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”386″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section]
